6/30/2023 0 Comments The long call review![]() ![]() It was a rudderless ship most of the time and the plot had to be dragged back on track with a 'phone call' on at least two occasions as the weak and ineffectual police team utterly failed to detect anything. The cinematography was excellent but one had the impression the DOP was on his/her own trip with little or no guidance from the director. ![]() The editing largely saved the day and you could feel the editor fuming at a lack of footage to cut together and make sense of it all. I was only well into episode two when I realised that the great Martin Shaw was being suffocated by the appalling storyline and directing. Where to start? The script was simply awful and the dialogue was largely bullet points annunciated by an uninspiring cast in performances that all conspired to fail to bring this story to life. ![]()
